Brazil has been one of the largest producers of sugarcane in recent years, which places the country as the leader within the field of sugar and alcohol production. This happens due to sugarcane vegetative process, which has a great capacity of producing and accumulating sucrose during its vegetative development, culminating in the main raw material for the production of ethanol, sugar, biodiesel and energy. The objective of this work was to evaluate the interaction between the pre-sprouted seedlings and the effects of the inoculation of Azospirillum brasilense diazotrophic bacteria in the initial development of the CTC 9004 M, IAC SP 955094 and IAC SP 962042 varieties. The experiment was conducted in the greenhouse at the experimental field and in the laboratory of agricultural microbiology of the Evangelical College of Goianesia, located in the city of Goianesia, Goias. The experimental design adopted was a 3×2 factorial scheme with four replications, which the first factor was constituted by three varieties of sugarcane (CTC 9004 M, IACSP 955094 and IACSP 962042), and the second factor by the treatments: sterile soil with inoculation of Azospirillum brasilense and sterile soil without inoculation. The bacteria of the species Azospirillum brasilense was inoculated directly into the roots of the seedlings under the proportion of 100 ml ha-1 of the Master FIX L brand inoculant. Growth and development determination was performed to define the number of tillers, stem diameter, dry mass of roots and shoot height. Collected data received statistical treatment through Assistat program. A statistical difference was only perceived in the inoculation factor, where the treatment with application of Azospirillum presented higher stem diameter and root dry mass values.
