Project Summary: Isolation and characterization of Rhizobia for effective nitrogen fixation in economically important legumes. The nitrogen fixing rhizobia will be selected based on a glasshouse and field experiment trial to select potential nodulating and nitrogen fixing rhizobial strains for inoculum development in the commercial production of these legumes. Nitrogen fixed by these bacteria will be available in the soil to make the soil more fertile and to be used by crops in their growth cycle.
