Biography:

Dr. K. Rajendran working as Associate Professor of Botany at the Thiagrajar College, Madurai (Affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University), Tamil Nadu, India.  Gain his M.Sc from Annamalai University and M.Phil from Bharathidasan University, Thiruchirappalli, TamilNadu and appointed as Research Assistant Gr 1 in the Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu India (ICFRE). During this period he was awarded Ph.D Degree in Forestry at FRI Deemed University Dehra Dun and received FAO fellowship for 3 months Training on Methodology and Advanced techniques of Nutrient cycling Studies in Plantation Forest Ecosystems at Queensland Forest Research Institute, Gympie, Queensland, Australia. After serving for nine years he  resigned the post and was  appointed as Assistant Professor of Botany and later promoted as Associate Professor at Thiagarajar College, Madurai. At present his research group is working in the field of Agro bio techniques of sustainable Nutrient management Studies in Plantation Forest Ecosystems using nitrogen fixing micro-organisms particularly N2  fixing Frankia in association with Actinomycetes tree species of Casuarinas.

Research Areas:

  • Nutrient Cycling in Plantation Forestry

Current N-related Projects:

  • Role of Frankia in sustainable seedling production and growth of Casuarina plantation
