Project: Autoregulation Of Infection (AOI)

Principal investigators: Jacques Batut

Associated organizations: INRA CNRS UPS ANR

Project Summary:

Autoregulation Of Infection (AOI) is a recently discovered regulatory loop that restricts the time during which a legume is susceptible to infection by beneficial rhizobia. Noteworthy, AOI works systemically and involves a molecular dialogue and signal exchange between the two symbionts. Understanding how AOI works may lead to a better control of the sensitivity of legumes to infection by beneficial or pathogenic microbes. The overall objective of the project is to decipher the plant and bacterial mechanisms that underlie AOI in the Sinorhizobium melilotiMedicago model symbiosis.
