Following undergraduate and PhD studies at the School of Exact Sciences (FCE) of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) Tony was a post-doc with Prof. Hans Ljunggren at the Department of Microbiology, SLU, Uppsala, Sweden (1990); and then with Prof. Alfred Pühler at the University of Bielefeld (AvH fellow, 1991-1993). He attained the position of Full Professor in 2011 (FCE, UNLP), and currently holds that position and the category of Principal Investigator at CONICET (Sci. Technol. Natl. Res. Council). He´s currently the IBBM Director (current tenure, 2015–2020).
